Houston, TX – A strong cold front is set to sweep through Southeast Texas, bringing temperatures near or below freezing by Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts gusty north winds starting late Tuesday, which will create hazardous conditions both on land and at sea.
The NWS Houston-Galveston office has issued a Gale Warning from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday. Offshore winds are expected to reach 30 knots, with seas rising to 7-10 feet. Mariners are advised to stay in port or seek safe harbor. Additionally, low water levels in Galveston and Matagorda Bays are expected.
Inland, cities like Houston, Katy, and College Station may experience temperatures in the 30s, while coastal areas will remain just above freezing. Residents are urged to protect plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing from the sudden drop in temperature.
This cold front serves as a sharp reminder that winter is arriving, even in the mild Texas climate. Stay updated with local forecasts and prepare for the approaching weather.
