Oklahoma City, OK – A woman identified as Ambler was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including child neglect, after reportedly trying to abandon her two young children near a local store. Police later discovered she planned to leave the children to visit someone for personal reasons. Officers apprehended her after a traffic stop initiated following a 911 call from a store employee. During the stop, the woman admitted to being under the influence of an unknown substance, according to NBC Montana.
The incident began when a store employee called 911, reporting a visibly intoxicated woman attempting to leave two babies behind. The witness stated the woman opened her vehicle’s back door, grabbed one of the children by the arm, and threw the baby to the ground as if it were a rag doll. She then tried to remove the second child, but her male passenger, who had reportedly known her for several months, intervened and placed the first child back into the vehicle, FOX25 reported.
Authorities later identified the children as a 4-month-old and an 11-month-old. The witness said that after the passenger returned the baby to the car, the mother drove away. Police quickly located her vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During questioning, Ambler admitted to consuming alcohol and explained she had unsuccessfully tried to contact the children’s father to arrange their exchange. She intended to abandon the children and send the father a pin for the location so he could retrieve them.
Ambler also admitted she planned to leave the children to visit someone for sexual purposes. Her passenger corroborated the story, telling authorities that the mother had intended to leave the children unsupervised. He also recounted witnessing her drink four shots of alcohol while the babies were in the car.
During the investigation, police noted Ambler was so intoxicated that she hallucinated, claiming a third child had jumped out of the vehicle. This prompted an extensive search involving multiple police vehicles, only to confirm that the third child was safe with a family member.
