A tragic accident that claimed the life of a 2-year-old boy occurred when a 15-year-old was driving an SUV.
On Wednesday, a tragic accident occurred in Northeast Houston.
According to Houston police, a tragic incident occurred on Tidwell around 6 p.m. when a teenager lost control of his white Honda SUV. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with trees, resulting in the unfortunate death of his 2-year-old passenger, his baby brother.
The 15-year-old informed his neighbors that he was on a drive to purchase items for his ailing mother.
According to neighbor Beverly Simon, she recounts the incident where her grandson informed her that the driver, who was a 15-year-old, revealed that his mom is on dialysis and is terminally ill. This explains why he was driving the car, as he was on his way to the store to gather some items for his sick mother. Additionally, Simon’s grandson mentioned that the driver was also attempting to manage his younger sibling in the car, instructing them to stay seated. Simon expresses her astonishment at the challenging situation faced by a young teenager who had to navigate such responsibilities.
The aftermath of the crash can be seen on the steep embankment of Tidwell near Mesa Drive, where Houston Police investigators report that a 15-year-old was involved in the accident.
According to detectives, the child who was involved in the accident was not seated in a child’s seat at the time.
Simon expressed his deep sympathy for the family, stating, “My heart is hurting for the family. The mother is sick and she has lost her baby. This kid will have to carry this pain with him for the rest of his life.”
She expresses her hope that the teenager is not facing any legal issues.
“He should not be charged,” Simon expressed his opinion, emphasizing the importance of considering the bigger picture. In light of the situation, Simon’s heartfelt prayer was for God to provide comfort not only to the young individual but also to everyone willing to offer their prayers. Simon urged others to join him in praying for the well-being of the child, their family, and the child’s mental state, wholeheartedly.
According to her, she also expresses her wish for the 15-year-old to receive the necessary support, including counseling. She firmly believes that he is a victim of trauma rather than a criminal.
The investigation is still ongoing, according to Houston police detectives.
