Spain serves as a crucial entry point for international drug traffickers into Europe. This is primarily due to its geographical proximity to Morocco, which is a major producer of cannabis. Furthermore, Spain’s strong historical and cultural connections with Latin American countries, which were once its colonies, further contribute to its role as a key player in the drug trade.
In a recent development, Spanish authorities have apprehended one of their high-ranking police officers. This action was taken after a staggering amount of 20 million euros was discovered concealed within the walls of his residence. This arrest comes as part of an extensive investigation into what is being hailed as the biggest cocaine seizure in the history of the country.
