A woman in Mississippi has been booked into jail with capital murder in the death of a three-year-old girl.
According to the Picayune Police Department, officers rushed to a home on Crestwood Drive about 10:18 a.m. on March 18 after receiving a complaint of a deceased kid. Investigators immediately suspected foul play, and Aurora Enfinger’s death was later judged a homicide.
Detectives issued a search warrant at the residence and allegedly discovered evidence, including steroids, leading to the arrests of Christian and Samantha Enfinger for drug-related charges. Police arrested both individuals for possessing drugs with the intention of distributing them.
An autopsy conducted on Friday determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Samantha was rebooked on March 20 for capital murder.
Authorities have not given any other information about the child’s death.
“This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with those who cared for Aurora,” the Picayune Police Department stated in a release. “We ask that you pray for those impacted by this horrible crime and never forget this beautiful child.”
The investigation is still underway, and officials urge anyone with information to phone (601) 798-7411.
