From April 7 to 10, the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office led an operation to seek noncompliant, unregistered offenders and arrest registered offenders on warrants in Wyandotte County.
The Edwardsville Police Department, Bonner Springs Police Department, US Marshals Service, and Kansas City, Kansas Police Department all assisted with the operation.
Fourteen non-compliant offenders were arrested on disregarded felony or misdemeanor warrants, and a handgun was discovered, resulting in an arrest for Felon in Possession.
“This is not our first offender sweep, and it will not be the last,” said Sheriff Daniel Soptic. Let this be a warning. If you are required by law to register and you are failing to comply with that, we will find you and push to have you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Investigations Unit is working on a few cases for possible charges against the District Attorney’s Office for infractions discovered during the sweep.
